We have taken a micro – insurance agency (Id – 83065R046) and working on this matter in last eight months under the Jurisdiction of Asansol Branch. We have very bitter experience to work with the LIC in this regard. Most significantly we are unable to fulfill our commitment to the rural poor just because of irrelevant information sharing and various system gap in technical parts.
From 2010-11 onwards we have taken agency for promotion of micro insurance in rural areas of Birbhum District with a aim to reach at least 10000 rural poor households within 2 years. But in all grounds we have been faced problems and miss communication.
First, what ever that amount we are getting as commission to the young agents of the agency through cheques and thus it may create problem for us e.g. if we get Rs.120/ as commission, Rs.90/- has been spent for cheque clearance, we may able to access only Rs.30/-, do you think that this is the right amount to motivate unemployed youth to promote micro-insurance at grassroots level?
Second, LIC introduced a software based policy proposal and renewal data entry system, it is quaite appreciated approach. But most of the time it has shown that entered proposals are not updated which causing delayed entry of renewal premium. Can you please explain that how you may help the enlisted agencies in this regard?
Thirdly, one of our agent informed us that now the all clloection amount to be deposited through DD in favour of ASANSOL BRANCH, if it is true fact than who will rimburse travel / postage amount as well as charges for making DD for such process ? Why all the agencies may not able to access help or deposit their collection to their nearest LICI branches ?
The all facts mentioned above reveled that there are several system and structural gaps in micro insurance management. If so, we would like to bring your kind attention in this segment and need necessary steps to be taken for rectification.
